HILO, Hawai'i - Cal Poly Humboldt women's soccer recorded its second consecutive shutout Friday afternoon, battling Hawai'i Hilo to a 0-0 draw at Vulcan Soccer Field. The result completed an unbeaten Hawai'i trip for the Lumberjacks.
Humboldt created the first opportunity of the match when Heidie Munoz sent a shot over the crossbar in the ninth minute. Alia Prentiss and Lokelani Almony also recorded attempts during the opening half as the two teams entered the break scoreless.
Hawai'i Hilo placed two first-half attempts on target, but goalkeeper Ari Beddoes stopped both to preserve the shutout. Beddoes denied Elise Flores in the 24th minute before turning away Karina Da Silva's attempt in the 41st.
The Lumberjacks continued to push forward following halftime. Natalie Wenner put an attempt on target in the 68th minute, while Prentiss and Nicole Beauchemin generated additional opportunities during the second half.
Humboldt's defense limited the Vulcans to two shots after halftime and did not allow an attempt on goal over the final 45 minutes. The Jacks earned two second-half corner kicks but could not produce the deciding goal.
Humboldt finished with a 7-6 advantage in shots, with each team placing two attempts on target. The Lumberjacks also held a 2-1 edge in corner kicks.
Beddoes played all 90 minutes and finished with two saves to secure her second straight clean sheet. She did not concede a goal during Humboldt's two matches in Hawai'i, extending her scoreless streak to 180 minutes.
The draw moved Humboldt to 2-1-1 on the season. The Lumberjacks went 1-0-1 on their Hawai'i trip after defeating Hawai'i Pacific 3-0 on Wednesday.

The Lumberjacks will return to College Creek Field on Thursday, Sept. 10, when they host UCCS at 3 p.m. for the CCAA opener.
