ARCATA — After a disappointing weekend in the bay area, Humboldt State returns home to host two Southern California teams, Cal State Dominguez Hills and Cal State Los Angeles. The Jacks will take on the Toros on Thursday, Oct. 4, at 7 p.m. and the Golden Eagles on Saturday, Oct. 6, also at 7 p.m., with Saturday's match being dedicated to spreading breast cancer awareness (Dig For A Cure).
Humboldt State enters this week's competition looking to break a nine-game losing streak, standing 2-12 overall, 0-7 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association. Cal State Dominguez Hills comes off a pair of losses to put the Toros in the sixth spot of the CCAA standings with a 6-8 overall record, 4-3 in conference. Cal State L.A. hopes to snap a three-game losing streak, putting the Golden Eagles at 5-9 on the season, 3-4 in the CCAA.
Head-to-Head
The Jacks have dominated the all-time series against the Toros over the years. Last year, HSU swept the series with CSUDH, winning 3-0 at home and 3-2 on the road, to put the all-time record at 17-3. On the other hand, the Golden Eagles have held the upper hand and swept the Jacks last season to put the all-time series at 15-3 in CSULA's favor.
Dig For A Cure
Fans are encouraged to wear pink to Saturday's match against Cal State L.A. in honor of breast cancer awareness. Each year, teams designate a match in the month of October to dedicate to bringing awareness to breast cancer.

Cal State Dominguez Hills enters the week's matches hoping to climb in the CCAA standings from the Toros' current sixth position. ... Outside hitter Elizabeth Krieger averages 3.05 kills per set, but middle blocker Whitney Lee has been a key player for the Toros. Lee averages 2.46 kills per set and hits at a .275 attack percentage. She has 18 service aces under her belt, along with 69 total blocks. Korryne Kelley has registered 230 digs to help the Toros stay in each match, defensively.

Cal State L.A. also looks to make an improvement from its No. 8 positioning in the conference standings. ... As a team, the Golden Eagles boast a .204 attack percentage, averaging 12.3 kills per set. The squad has picked up 140 total blocks this season to average 2.5 blocks per set, largely due to middle blocker Marquis Mora. Mora makes up more than half of the 140 blocks with 79 to average 1.39 blocks per set. She also has a keen eye to kill, picking up 3.16 kills per set with an impressive .376 attack percentage, as well as 21 service aces. April Reyes leads the defensive effort with 206 digs on the season.
