Second half of conference play gives Jacks fresh start

ARCATA — Humboldt State head coach Sue Woodstra would be the first to tell you this season hasn't been what the Jacks had been hoping for, but the team has a brand new chance to turn the season around. The Jacks will look to put the first part of California Collegiate Athletic Association action behind them and just move forward.

"We know we have the ability to compete with everybody in the conference," said Woodstra. "Hopefully, we can use that knowledge to boost our confidence and get after it in the second go-around."

Standing at 2-16 overall, 0-11 in the CCAA, Humboldt State hosts Chico State on Thursday, Oct. 18, at 7 p.m. and Cal State Stanislaus on Saturday, Oct. 20, with an unusual 4 p.m. start time.

Head-to-Head
Both Chico State and Cal State Stanislaus grabbed victories in their previous matches against the Jacks. The Wildcats now lead the all-time series with a 40-21 record, while the Warriors cut the Jacks' lead in the all-time series to 44-17.

Woodstra's Words
"We need to be consistant. Once we get one win, it'll pick up. ... With Chico State, we have to jump out on them and start strong. We need to play each point as hard as we can. We have to focus on taking it point by point, one step after the next. ... Same thing goes for CSU Stanislaus. I feel once we break down the ball, it'll give us confidence and we can build on that. ... We're focusing on trying to play for each point at practice this week. ... Danielle has been playing awesome. She's such a competitor. She's the type of player coaches love to have, she's a hard worker and eager to learn."
