Jacks hope to find winning combination on road

ARCATA — Humboldt State will face the only two teams it hasn't challenged yet this weekend, hoping to snap an 11-game losing streak. The Jacks take on San Francisco State Friday, Oct. 12, before traveling to Sonoma State on Saturday, Oct. 13. Both games are set to start at 7 p.m.

Last year, the Jacks fell in three-straight sets to both Sonoma State and San Francisco State at home and on the road. The losses put the all-time series in favor of the Seawolves at 35-22 and the Gators at 39-18, something the Jacks hope to break this weekend.

Injury Report
The Jacks are still a little banged up, but most of the team will be cleared to play over the weekend. Head coach Sue Woodstra is still unsure about Channel Washington's status as she recovers from a head injury, leaving her questionable for the weekend.

Woodstra's Words
"Both San Francisco State and Sonoma State are playing quite well. ... SFSU runs a quick attack and has a dominant right side. They have a good lefty who takes good hits on the side. It'll put us one on one on the outside unless we can serve well, which would definitely help us. ... SSU is similar to SFSU. They are really steady and have good ball control. They are also good defensively; just a good all-around team. ... We keep trying to figure out how to get our best out on the court consistently. Practices have picked up so we're just going to keep trying. ... We've been right there with teams late in a set, but we just need to step up at the end and have a little more determination. We need to push a little harder. Finishing sets is still our nemesis. ... Danielle [Carlson] should be feeling good with her play. She's been doing a nice job for us and really stepped right in there. She's played the outside spot well. She plays her best when she feels confident and just goes for it."
