HSU SPLIT OPENING WEEK

HSU faced an old nemesis to begin the season last Thursday. The Jacks faced the Falcons of Seattle Pacific, a team holding an 11-4 all-time record against the North Coast club. The match remained scoreless through 62 minutes until Seattle Pacific found the net for what would be the lone goal in the next minute.

The Jacks bounced back in a big way two days later in Rocklin. HSU saw Braxton Griffin and freshman Alan Castillo take turns scoring two goals apiece on the way to a convincing win, 4-0, at William Jessup.

Griffin booted the opening goal only 6:33 into the match. Castillo took Chuck Pitts pass 28 minutes later and scored to make it 2-0.

Both HSU forwards added second half goals for the first four HSU goals of the season.

Goalie Javier Torres posted his first shutout of the year and saved the only shot he faced in the match.
