SUCCESSFUL HOME OPENING WEEKEND
The latest version of the Lumberjack Classic proved to be an overall successful one.
The Jacks controlled the match against the Hawks of Holy Names, before taking a 2-1 victory. Ryan Connor and Alan Castillo provided the two home goals.
On Saturday, all match scoring was recorded in the opening 12 minutes. Quintin Aguilar deflected a ball into the left side of the net less than five minutes into the match. BYU-Hawaii tied the match under eight minutes later. The two teams could not add another score the rest of the 98 minutes played for a 1-1 double overtime tie.
GRIFFIN AND CASTILLO LEAD SCORING
Braxton Griffin and Alan Castillo lead the HSU scorers through the opening six matches. Both Jacks forwards are tied for second in the CCAA with four goals apiece. Griffin holds the overall team points lead with nine points by adding an assist with his four goals.
