MEN'S RESULTS (PDF) | WOMEN'S RESULTS (PDF)TRINIDAD, Calif. – In its only home meet of 2015, the Humboldt State cross country program earned top marks at its Humboldt Invite, and each squad earned first-place finishes.
"We had great performances today, and it was a nice payoff after working hard all summer," said Head Coach
Scott Pesch. "We had a really good turn out. It was a great day here on the North Coast and in Patrick's Point State Park."
On a wet and cloudy day at Patrick's Point State Park,
Christian Nazarek led the men's team with a first-place individual finish (26:04) in the 8k, and four Lumberjacks ranked in the top four spots. On the women's side,
Catie LeDesma completed the 3.7-mile run in second place out of scoring runners (22:31).
"Our pack mentality was absolutely incredible today, and I wouldn't have been able to finish without it," said Nazarek. "This is my first 8K ever. I knew that if I could hang with my teammates, I would have a good shot at a victory."
Scorers for the HSU men included:
Mario Castillo-Urbina (26:04.3),
Dustyn Salomon (26:04.9), Omar Padilla (26:05.1) and
Brent Ritschel (26:21.4).
Imogene Carson (22:59),
Nikaela Hemminger (22:59),
Annie Roberts (22:59) and
Megan Alfi (23:10) were the top performers for the Green and Gold women's squad.
