MCKINLEYVILLE, Calif. – The Cal Poly Humboldt men's and women's cross country teams will compete in their first meet of the 2025 season as they host the Jim Hunt Humboldt Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 13 at Beau Pre Golf Club in McKinleyville, Calif. The Lumberjacks put on a dominant showing at last year's Jim Hunt Humboldt Invitational, claiming team titles in both the men's and women's races while competing against Southern Oregon and Oregon Tech on their home course.

In the men's 8K, Humboldt secured the top team spot with 30 points, outpacing Southern Oregon (47 points) and Oregon Tech (51 points). Returner Jonah Grubbs (26:22.4) secured sixth place in the meet to help the Lumberjacks assure first place.

On the women's side, Humboldt showcased its depth by placing five runners in the top eight, including returners Nayeli Huynh (24:03.6) and Anna Tasky (24:08.0). The women's team totaled 27 points to secure the victory in the 6K race, outdistancing Southern Oregon (36), Oregon Tech (68), and setting the tone for a promising season ahead.
