ARCATA, Calif. – Humboldt State women's soccer fell to San Francisco State 4-0 Friday afternoon.
After a scoreless first half that saw HSU come up short on a number of opportunities, San Francisco State took full advantage with a second half surge that led it to victory.
"The first 45 minutes we did a very good job and should have been up 3-0 headed to half," said head coach
Paul Karver. "When you miss the chances we did the momentum can swing the other way and that's what it did. When they scored their first goal it was hard to recover, and, in the end, we just weren't good enough against a team that should make the playoffs."
With the loss HSU falls to 3-9-1 overall and 1-5-1 in CCAA action. San Francisco State improves to 7-4-3 overall and 4-3-2 in conference play.
The Gators scored the first of their four second half goals just six minutes into the period when Natasha Gosiaco put one through, and the Gators never looked back.
HSU was outshot by San Francisco State 10-8, with eight of the Gators' shots being on goal compared to just two for the Jacks.
Humboldt State looks to bounce back at home Sunday afternoon when they take on Cal State Monterey Bay at 11:30 a.m. Sunday will be Public Service Appreciation game, and the day will be highlighted by free admission to all public safety employees and their families, halftime games for the kids and a player meet and greet after the matches.
