ARCATA, Calif. – Humboldt State women's soccer exchanged first half goals with Cal State Los Angeles in Thursday's 1-1 tie at College Creek Field.
"The girls played some very impressive football against a very good playoff team," said head coach
Paul Karver. "Our ability to possess and build the game presented serious problems for Cal State LA."
The Golden Eagles' Veronika Steen scored the game's first goal. Steen chipped a goal over the head of HSU keeper
Katelin Talbert from 25 yards out at the 35:40 mark.
Six minutes later
Rose Harman evened the score when her cross deflected off a Cal State LA defender and into goal. The goal was a career first for the freshman from Portland, Ore.
Cal State LA outshot Humboldt State 13-7, with six shots coming before the half.
Talbert tallied a season-high six saves in goal.
"Katie Talbert stole the show with a few world-class saves and a penalty save," said Karver.
The Lumberjacks return to action Saturday at 11:30 a.m. HSU hosts Cal State Dominguez Hills in a Senior Day game, and seniors
Kylie Forbes and
