ARCATA, Calif. – A late second half surge lifted Humboldt State women's soccer to a 4-1 victory against Holy Names University Friday afternoon at College Creek Field.
"Today was a good opportunity to gain momentum heading into the home stretch of conference, and we took advantage of that," said head coach
Paul Karver. "Holy Names posed a few questions that we had to answer at halftime and, once we got the ball wide, we were able to take advantage."
The victory improved HSU to 3-8-1 overall. With the loss, Holy Names slipped to 1-7-1 overall.
Holy Names was able to take a 1-0 lead on a goal by Shelby Johnson in the 58th minute.
HSU found the equalizer in the 70th minute on a header from
Bridget Daley assisted by
Rose Harman. Harman was just getting started as she also assisted on the Jacks' next two goals, a goal by
Myriah Epino in the 73rd minute and a header by
Sierra Jarriel in the 75th minute.
"The big story today was
Rose Harman with three assists," said Karver. "She was fantastic."
Jacquelyn Dompier added the Jacks' last goal in the 82nd minute on an assist from
Sierra Jarriel that served as the last score of the match.
"It was great to have Myriah, Sierra and Jacque each notch their first collegiate goals today and Bridget continuing her scoring ways," said Karver.
HSU resumes conference play at home when they take on San Francisco State (Friday, Oct 14th) and Cal State Monterey Bay (Sunday, Oct. 16th).
