PORTLAND, Ore. – Humboldt State women's soccer (0-2-0) could not find the back of the net in Saturday's 1-0 loss at undefeated Concordia (2-0-0).
"We had a real test this afternoon and we nearly passed," said Head Coach
Paul Karver. "Concordia is a fantastic group that is very well coached and their depth being at home really served them well today. The second game of a weekend is always hard and our girls have now experienced that."
Both sides played a fairly even first half; totaling four shots and one save apiece. After intermission, Concordia was able to break the scoreless tie with a 61
st minute goal off the foot of Mallory Flatebo. The goal was one of eight second half shots for the Cavaliers.
The Jacks had three players record multiple shots, led by
Bridget Daley's three, and two apiece from
Alex Jenkins and
Lindsay Stoner.
Despite allowing the goal, HSU's
Alex Dumas' goals against average remains below one. Through two games, the true freshman has a 0.90 GAA.
"A real bright spot comes with our organization and team defense, we've play 199 minutes and have yet to let a team get in behind us," said Karver. "Now we need somebody to step up and score. We will win games, but right now it's a work in progress."
The Oregon trip concludes on Sunday as the Green and Gold travel to George Fox for a noon start.
