ARCATA, Calif.--- As announced by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA), 14 members of the 2019 Humboldt State Lumberjacks' softball team were named Easton/NFCA Scholar-Athletes. The 14 Lumberjacks were

Morgan Brant,
Anna Brondos,
Courtney Christensen,
Lynette Combs,
Katelyn Dendas,
Megan Graeser,
Danica Grier,
Carla Hernandez-Vasquez,
Mariah Kalamaras,
Lauren Lipe,
Sarah Salinas,
Haley Suter and
Chloe Teese.
To be named an Easton/NFCA Scholar-Athlete, a student-athlete has to have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average during the 2018-19 academic year and be a member of the softball team.
Earlier this summer, six softball players were named to the 2019 Spring Academic All-California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Team in
Megan Graeser,
Danica Grier,
Mariah Kalamaras,
Lauren Lipe,
Sarah Salinas and
Haley Suter. Ten Lumberjacks were named to the CCAA All-Academic Team in August in Lipe, Tease, Kalamaras, Suter, Salinas, Brondos, Dendas, Christiansen, Brooke Towsend and
Mariah Tovar.
The Lumberjacks, under the direction of head coach
Shelli Sarchett, will play a Fall Schedule to get ready for their 2020 spring season. Their first game will be on October 4 against Ohlone College. That same weekend on October 5, Humboldt State will host College of the Redwoods. The Lumberjacks' Annual Alumni Game will be on October 12. Then on October 13, the 'Jacks will have their annual Pay to Play Fundraiser Game. Humboldt State will also face Southwestern Oregon Community College in a scrimmage on October 19.
