FRESNO, Calif.---- The visiting Cal Poly Humboldt Lumberjacks held a 4-3 advantage in shot on goal attempts and a 7-2 corner kick advantage, but Fresno Pacific defeated the Jacks 1-0 on a goal by Tori DeLeon in the 17
th minute. Four different players recorded a shot on goal attempt each in
Erin Mohr,
Frida Duran Arellano,
Jysabella Tolentino and
Julia Humphreys.
FIRST HALF: Fresno Pacific took the 1-0 lead in the 17
th minute on a goal by Tori De Leon off an assist by Maria Eir Magnusdottir and Bryana Yoshida. The Jacks had a chance to tie the game in the 37
th minute, but Monique Neverez stopped Julia Humphrey's shot on goal attempt in the 37
th minute. The Sunbirds (1-0) had a chance to double their lead in the 40
th minute when
Carson Thomson-Terrel stopped Ariana Quintero's attempt. The hosts had another chance for a goal late in the half when De Leon's shot sailed right of the net to send the match into the half with FPU leading 1-0.
SECOND HALF: The Jacks came out of the locker room on fire, but
Erin Mohr's shot on goal attempt was snagged by Neverez in the 49
th minute. Eight minutes later,
Frida Duran Arellano had a chance to tie the match for Humboldt (0-1) but Neverez made a another save. Humboldt had its last chance late in the match when
Annie Hoffman's shot attempt went right of the net as the Sunbirds held on for the 1-0 victory.
SAVES: Carson Thomson-Terrel had two saves in goal for the Jacks with one in each half. Monique Neverez had four saves for FPU with two in each half.
4-3: Humboldt held a 4-3 advantage in shot on goal attempts with one each coming from

Frida Duran Arellano,
Jysabella Tolentino and
Julia Humphreys. The Jacks had a 7-2 advantage in corner kicks with four in the second half.
UP NEXT: The Jacks will return to the pitch this Saturday, August 27 at 1pm in San Rafael, Calif., for another NCAA Division II West Region match-up. This time the Jacks will face Dominican (Calif.). The Penguins played a 2-2 draw with Stanislaus State in Turlock earlier today.
