ARCATA, Calif.---- Cal Poly Humboldt Lumberjacks will return to the pitch this weekend for a pair of matches in Hawai'i. The Jacks will face Hawai'i Pacific this Thursday, September 1 at 7pm (HT) in Honolulu and Hawai'i Hilo this Sunday, September 4 at 11am in Hilo.
LAST WEEK: The Jacks opened their season going 0-0-2 in their two-match home stand against Northwest Nazarene and Holy Names. Humboldt played to a 2-2 draw with Northwest Nazarene on Aug. 25 with
Devin Hauenstein and
Juan Perez scoring goals for the Jacks.
Dylan Tovani and
Nico Herrera Land each assisted on the two goals.
Adrian Gallardo had four saves in goal for Humboldt. On Aug. 27, Humboldt played to a scoreless stalemate with Holy Names with Gallardo posting five saves en route to his first shutout of the season. The Jacks outshot Holy Names 18-15 including 7-5 in shot in goal attempts.

Edgar Castaneda each had two shot attempts while Abdel-Malek each had two shot on goal attempts.

Adrian Gallardo has a 1.00 goals against average with a shutout. Gallardo has a .818 saves percentage with nine saves. His shutout this season against Holy Names gives him eight for his career in the Green and Gold.
HAWAI'I PACIFIC: The Sharks are 0-1-1 after their matches in the Pacific Northwest this weekend. They lost 1-0 at Western Oregon on Aug. 25 with Jeremy Zielinski recording four saves in goal for HPU. On Sunday, The Sharks played to a scoreless draw with Saint Martin's as Zielinski had four saves in goal. Last season, Hawai'i Pacific went 8-6-2 with Zielinski posting a 0.89 goals against average.
1-0 HUMBOLDT: The Jacks lead the all-time series with Humboldt defeating the Sharks 4-0 in Hayward on Sept. 1.

HAWAI'I HILO: The Vulcans will have their 2022 regular season home opener when they host the Jacks on Sunday morning in Hawai'i. Last season, Hilo went 5-7-1 overall and 3-5-1 in the PacWest. The Vulcans scored 16 goals in 13 matches last season while giving up 17 goals. Christian Souza returns this season after playing in two matches in which he posted a 1.33 goals against average with four saves. Alexander Hernandez-Herback returns after scoring three goals while returners Tom Vorkastner, Waturo Muto and Andrew Rehedul each had two assists. This is the first time that Hilo and Humboldt have faced each other in men's soccer.
UP NEXT: After their two-match road trip to Hawai'i, the Jacks will return for two non-conference match-up. Humboldt will host Simpson on Sept. 7 at 3pm and Academy of Art on Sept. 12 at noon. The Jacks' final non-conference match-up will be on Sept. 17 for a rare non-conference match at Chico State at 7pm.
