SILVER CITY, NM--- Cal Poly Humboldt's
Avery McIntyre was selected to the 2022 Green Chile Classic All-Tournament Team as announced today by Western New Mexico University. McIntyre had a .375 hitting percentage in the Jacks' three matches including hitting for .400 against Wisconsin-Parkside.
"Avery had an outstanding tournament," said Humboldt head coach
Angela Spoja. "As a freshman to come in and lead her team in the middle is an exceptional accomplishment. We are very proud of Avery and looking forward to working with her for the next four years."
The freshman middle blocker started the tournament for the Jacks with six kills and three total blocks in Humboldt's four-set season opening win over Western New Mexico on Thursday. She hit for .333 in the match and of her three total blocks, two were solo blocks.
McIntyre came back the next morning in the Jacks' four-set loss to Holy Names and had 11 kills with a .381 hitting percentage. She added five digs and two block solos. The Cherry Valley, Calif., native finished the tournament for Humboldt with seven kills, a service ace and a dig in Humboldt's four-set loss to Wisconsin-Parkside. She hit for .400 against the Rangers.
For the tournament, McIntyre had 24 kills in the 12 sets she played while hitting for .375. She also seven digs and five total blocks with a service ace.
Humboldt is off this week and will have its home and California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) opener on Thursday, September 8 at 5pm against Cal State East Bay. Two days later, the Jacks will host Cal State San Marcos at 5pm.
