ARCATA, Calif.----Cal Poly Humboldt improved to 2-1-1 after a 1-0 win over the visiting Holy Names Hawks (3-1) this afternoon at College Creek Field.

Carson Thomson-Terrel posted her third straight shutout with three saves in goal for the Jacks.
FIRST HALF: Holy Names had a chance for the early lead when
Carson Thomson-Terrel made one of her three saves on the afternoon stopping Giselle Lirios Ramos' shot on goal attempt in the third minute. Two minutes later, Humboldt's
Grace Johnson had a chance to give the Jacks the lead but
Alexis Aguilar made the stop. The Jacks had another chance for the lead, but
Kylea Becker's shot on goal attempt was stopped by Aguilar in the 28
th minute. Thomson-Terrel snagged the hawks' Ana Centeno's shot on goal attempt in the 42
nd minute the match into the half scoreless.
SECOND HALF: Holy Names started the second half strong as in the 62
nd minute, Thomson-Terrel made a stop of Natalie Lara's shot on goal attempt.
Maddie Johnson looked like she was going to give the hosts the lead, but her shot attempt in the 77
th minute sailed wide right. Thirty seconds later, the Jacks took the 1-0 lead when
Carmella Baldassarre connected on a ball from
Frida Duran Arellano for what proved to be the game-winner.
THIRD STRAIGHT: Carson Thomson-Terrel recorded her third straight shutout this afternoon in the Jacks' 1-0 win over Holy Names. The redshirt freshman had three saves en route to the shutout.
WHAT A WEEKEND: Frida Duran Arellano had two assists and scored a goal in the weekend for the Humboldt. She played a role in all three goals for the Lumberjacks. She started the weekend with an assist on
Emma McChristie's goal and came back with a a goal off a ball from McChristie and
Grace Johnson.
CONTROL: For the second straight match, the Jacks held an advantage in shot attempts (12-5), shot on goals (6-3) and corner kicks (4-3).
UP NEXT: Cal Poly Humboldt will start a five-game road trip next week with three matches in Chico, Calif. The Jacks will face Biola on Sept. 8 at 4:30pm and Azusa Pacific on Sept. 10 at 11am. They will return to Chico on Sept. 17 for a rare non-conference game with Chico State.
