ARCATA, Calif.--- Cal Poly Humboldt extended its winning streak to three with a 4-3 win over the visiting Biola Eagles. The Jacks' four goals came from
Jysabella Tolentino,
Emma McChristie,
Erin Mohr and
Morgan Young.
Frida Duran Arellano had two assists while
Carson Thomson-Terrel had a season high five saves. The Jacks will be in Chico on Saturday morning at 10am for another non-conference match with Azusa Pacific.
FiRST HALF: Biola had the first chance of the match for the lead, but Abby Chavez's shot was blocked by the Lumberjack defense in the third minute. Three minutes later, Cal Poly Humboldt (3-1-1) took the 1-0 lead on a goal by
Jysabella Tolentino off a ball from
Frida Duran Arellano. The Eagles looked like they were going to tie the game in the sixth minute when Jazmin Motalvo's shot was stopped by the Jacks'
Carson Thomson-Terrel. The Jacks doubled their lead on a penalty kick by
Emma McChristie in the 18
th minute.
In the 24
th minute, Biola (1-3-1) cut the Jack lead in half on a goal Peyton Nelson off a ball from Marijie Rechin. The visitors tied the match at 2-2 forty seconds later on a goal by Chavez off a ball from Rachel Melvin. Humboldt looked like the Jacks going to retake the lead when
Annie Hoffman's shot sailed high over the goal to send the match into the half tied at 2-2.
SECOND HALF: Humboldt had a couple of chances in the 50
th minute to take the lead including
Grace Johnson's shot that was stopped by the Eagles' Anna Boyer. In the 62
nd minute, Thomson-Terrel made another of her five save when she stopped Chloe Diaz's shot on goal. Two minutes later, Humboldt took the 3-2 lead on a goal by
Erin Mohr. The Jacks doubled their lead in the 71
st minute when
Morgan Young connected on her first goal in the Green and Gold off a ball from Duran Arellano.
Nelson's second goal of the match cut the Jack lead to 4-3 when she connected on a ball from Halie Jamir in the 77
th minute. Biola had a chance to tie the match in the 87th minute when Jess Hase's shot went high over the net as the Jacks took the 4-3 victory.
UP TO FOUR: Frida Duran Arellano recorded her third and fourth assists of the season this afternoon. Her first came on the Jacks' first goal by Jysabella Tolentno. Her second came in the 71
st minute on goal by
Morgan Young.
