ROHNERT PARK, Calif. -- With a 2-0 win at Sonoma State on Thursday, Cal Poly Humboldt Women's Soccer has clinched a spot in the CCAA Tournament for the second year in a row.
Emma McChristie and
Emilia Long each scored goals and Long is now tied for the most goals scored in the CCAA with eight total on the season. The 'Jacks enter the CCAA Tournament as a No. 5 seed and will take on No. 4 seed Stanislaus State from Turlock this Sunday at noon.
A relatively even first 45 minutes saw the two teams enter the half tied at 0-0. In the second half, the 'Jacks played up to the level of knowing that a win would secure spot in the tournament. In the 63rd minute,

Emma McChristie who scored what eventually would be the game winner to put the 'Jacks up 1-0. Just four minutes later, defender
Erin Mohr played the ball to
Emilia Long who padded the lead with her CCAA leading eighth goal to put Humboldt up 2-0. The offensive attack in the second half was very aggressive by the Lumberjacks, as they out shot Sonoma 12-3.
Carson Thomson-Terrel posted four saves in goal to secure her 11th shutout of the season to help Humboldt clinch a spot in the CCAA Tournament for the second year in a row.
