SPOKANE, Wash. -- The Cal Poly Humboldt Lumberjacks track and field team sent out their multi's to compete at the Riverfront Multi's meet held on February 1st and 2nd at The Podium in Spokane, Washington. The dynamic duo of Cocome McKamey and Grace Kasberger competed in their first full indoor pentathlon, taking on five different events consisting of shot put, long jump, high jump, 60m hurdles, and the 800m. Along with them came Humboldt's newest addition to the multi's family, Bryce Pearson, who set out to compete in his first indoor heptathlon. The men's heptathlon consists of the 60m dash, 60m hurdles, 1000m, shot put, pole vault, long jump, and high jump.

The women's pentathlon took place on February 1st, with McKamey and Kasberger competing in all 5 events in a single day.

Grace Kasberger started her day off with a personal record in the 60m hurdles, running a time of 9.32. Kasberger kept the trend of setting personal records as she then high jumped a height of 1.62m (5 '3.75ft) in high jump, allowing herself to move up two places in the pentathlon. As her day continued Kasberger kept her focus and managed to stay consistent throughout her events, making marks good enough to keep her in her pentathlon standing. Earning herself marks of 10.82m (35.6ft) in shot put and 4.94m (16 '2.5ft) in long jump. Grace Kasberger ended her day by taking on the 800m for the first time on an indoor track, and rising to the occasion, ran a time of 8:26.21. Kasberger's performance earned her a 13th place finish in the pentathlon.

Cocome McKamey made a huge opening statement by running a personal record of 8.90 in the 60m hurdles, setting the tone for the rest of her day. McKamey continued to cruise through her next two events, earning herself the marks of 1.56m (5 '1.5ft) in high jump and 10.8m (35' 5.25ft) in shot put. McKamey finished her day out strong, just like Kasberger, McKamey had to face her first indoor 800m race. Despite it being her first time, McKamey ran a lifetime best of 2:24.07 earning her a fourth place finish in the race. This finish to her day took her from 10th place to 6th place in the pentathlon.

Kasberger and McKamey's performances earned both of them a National Provisional Qualifying Mark, with Kasberger collecting 3,464 points and McKamey with 3,662.

Bryce Pearson finished his first day of competition in 9th place, having already competed in the 60m hurdles, long jump, high jump, and shot put.
