CHICO, Calif. – The Cal Poly Humboldt women's track & field team delivered a strong showing Saturday at the Wildcat Invitational, highlighted by multiple event victories and program all-time marks

The Lumberjacks were led by standout efforts from Sophie Coil, Marielle Winuk, Caitlyn Dougherty, and Brinna Weiseth, as Humboldt produced top finishes across the sprints, distance races, throws, and jumps.

FIELD

The Lumberjacks' throwing group turned in several standout performances. Freshman Sophie Coil led the way with victories in both the shot put (11.84m / 38'10¼") and discus (39.07m / 128'2"). Laura White finished third in the shot put with a throw of 11.24m (36'10½") while Isabella Claussen placed fourth with a mark of 10.71m (35'1¾").

In the hammer throw, Marielle Winuk captured the event title with a mark of 45.31m (148'8"), which ranks 10th all-time in Humboldt program history. Laura White finished second with a throw of 37.99m (124'8") while Claussen placed fifth at 34.09m (111'10").

In the jumps, Lily Shadden produced two top-five finishes, placing third in the high jump with a clearance of 1.55m (5'1") and fourth in the long jump with a mark of 4.81m (15'9½"). Katie MacLean cleared 1.45m (4'9") to finish sixth in the high jump.

TRACK

In the 400 meters, freshman Caitlyn Dougherty placed third with a time of 56.92, which ranks fifth all-time in program history, while Brielle Jimerson finished fourth in 57.39, now seventh all-time.

Dougherty also captured the 200 meters title with a time of 24.46, improving her previous mark to third all-time in program history. Jimerson followed with a runner-up finish in 24.80, which ranks fourth all-time at Humboldt.

In the women's 100 meters, Kelsi Lytle placed third in 12.38, a time that now ranks eighth all-time in program history. Mia Roberts added a sixth-place finish in 12.52.

The 4x100 relay team of Kelsi Lytle, Caitlyn Dougherty, Brielle Jimerson, and Mia Roberts finished second with a time of 47.79.

In the distance events, Brinna Weiseth captured the 5000 meters title with a time of 18:43.07, while Lyla Fedio placed fifth in 19:25.04.

UP NEXT

The Cal Poly Humboldt track & field teams will continue their outdoor season next week as the Lumberjacks look to build on their momentum and pursue additional qualifying marks as the season progresses. The 'Jacks will compete at the Pacific Northwest Invite, hosted by Oregon State University in Corvallis, Ore. on Friday, Mar. 20 and Saturday, Mar. 21.
