ARCATA, Calif. -- Saturday evening in Lumberjack Arena, Cal Poly Humboldt hosted Cal State East Bay for a CCAA matchup. The 'Jacks cut the Pioneer lead to one possession in the second half, but East Bay pulled away and defeated Humboldt with a final score of 83-68.
Sage Wayans posted a career-high 19 points and
Kareem Clark was right behind him with a season-high 18 points of his own.
Ramiah Adedigba sank a pair of free throws at the halfway point of the first half to cut the Humboldt deficit to one point, 20-21. East Bay extended their lead after going on a 10-2 run and gained momentum heading into the half. The Pioneers led 39-29 at the break.
Humboldt proved tough and fought their way back after
Kareem Clark converted on a four-point play that was followed by a
Sage Wayans free throw, making it 47-50 with 12 minutes to go. The 'Jacks got into serious foul trouble when four players fouled out, which spread Humboldt thin in the second half. East Bay chipped away and built their lead up to 20 points with roughly three minutes to go. The Pioneers earned the season sweep over Humboldt after winning with a final score of 83-68.
