Top 3 at Willamette
"Competing at Hayward Field at the University of Oregon is an experience athletes never forget," said head coach
Sarah Ingram. "It's probably the biggest stage they'll ever compete on, being one of the top facilities in the world, and attracting top competition. There's a lot in that stadium to be distracted by, and it's a good opportunity to work on the mental approach to competition and keeping our focus. It can be pretty overwhelming as an athlete competing there, but it's good exposure for our program and we will learn from it. We are very proud of our athletes who performed under pressure today and came away with a win or a new personal best.
Competing at Willamette about an hour up the road from Eugene was a bit underwhelming in comparison. The energy at that meet was low and our athletes did our best to shine by winning events, and working to improve their marks and their consistency in their events. They looked good in their fields, getting many wins and top finishing places."
Next up, Cal Poly Humboldt multis (
Cocome McKamey,
Grace Kasberger, and
Bryce Pearson) compete in the first outdoor multi of the season at Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon.
"There are big fields of competition with 17-18 per gender, which will make for two long days of competition." stated Ingram. "They are feeling fresh and ready, and we're excited to get started."
Events will begin at 11 AM.
