ARCATA, Calif. -- Cal Poly Humboldt faced off against Southern Oregon University on Saturday from College Creek Field in their final home exhibition of the preseason. The 'Jacks won with a final score of 1-0.
Erin Mohr converted the penalty kick in the second half to seal the victory.
Besides the defense holding Southern Oregon from scoring, the highlight of the day was
Erin Mohr scoring in the 67'.
Annie Hoffman was fouled in the box and the Lumberjacks were awarded a penalty kick opportunity. Senior
Erin Mohr shot lower right and was denied by the goalie, but the ball bounded right back to her and Mohr tapped it in with her left foot to give Humboldt a 1-0 victory.
"Overall I thought we were better on the attacking side of the ball today," stated head coach
Grant Landy. "Our movement off the ball is improving as well as our desire to get forward as a group, it is a step in the right direction."
The 'Jacks will finish their preseason next Saturday in Redding, as they take on Simpson University at 10:00 AM.
