Game Recap: Women's Soccer | | Drew Gwerder

Humboldt Secures Third Straight Victory with 2-0 Win Over Jessup

ARCATA, Calif. – The Cal Poly Humboldt women's soccer team continued its winning streak today, defeating Jessup 2-0 in a commanding performance at College Creek Field. This marks the Lumberjacks' third consecutive victory, improving their season record to 3-2-0.

"We wanted to focus on our mentality today and thought our approach to the game was excellent," said head coach Grant Landy. "The first 20 minutes might have been the best we have played all season so far. I thought we did a good job dealing with their physicality."

After a scoreless first half, the Lumberjacks came out strong in the second half. Mari Ige opened the scoring in the 64th minute, netting her second goal of the season with assists from Morgan Young and Frida Duran Arellano. The goal set the tone for the remainder of the match.

Just 14 minutes later, Annie Hoffman added an insurance goal, her first of the season, further solidifying Humboldt's control over the game. The Lumberjacks showcased a balanced offensive attack, firing a total of 17 shots, with 5 on target, while maintaining a solid defensive effort that limited Jessup to just 6 shots. Goalkeeper Adea Nunes recorded her second clean sheet of the season and tallied 4 saves.

Key Statistics
- Shots: Humboldt 17 (5 on goal) | Jessup 6 (4 on goal)
- Saves: Humboldt 4 | Jessup 3
- Corner Kicks: Humboldt 7 | Jessup 1
- Fouls: Humboldt 12 | Jessup 15

Landy added, "We made a good adjustment in the second half. The first goal was well worked and a composed finish by Mari. The second was just a blast from Annie into the upper 90 off a defensive turnover. It's great to see her get on the scoreboard. We have a real test coming up on Saturday against Concordia Irvine. I am looking forward to seeing how we perform as a team."
