Men’s Soccer Returns Home to Face Stanislaus State and Cal State San Bernardino

ARCATA, Calif. – Cal Poly Humboldt men's soccer will return to College Creek Field this weekend for a pair of California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) matchups. The Lumberjacks (3-7-1, 0-3-1 CCAA) will host No. 2 Stanislaus State on Friday, Oct. 17 at 3:00 p.m. PT, followed by a Senior Day matchup against Cal State San Bernardino on Sunday, Oct. 19 at 2:00 p.m. PT. All home matches offer free admission, courtesy of proud soccer partner The DANCO Group.

LAST TIME OUT

The Lumberjacks fell at Cal State East Bay on Friday, Oct. 10 at Las Positas College Soccer Field. Humboldt took an early challenge from the Pioneers, who scored twice in the first half to take a 2–0 lead into halftime. East Bay added a third goal in the 59th minute before Nathan Murff netted his third goal of the season for Humboldt, cutting the deficit to 3–1. The Pioneers responded with three more goals in quick succession to seal the 6–1 victory.

Humboldt finished with seven shots, including two on target, while goalkeeper Alvaro Nieves recorded three saves. Despite the setback, the team looks to rebound in front of its home crowd this weekend.

WINNING AGAINST THE WARRIORS

Stanislaus State (9-0-1, 3-0-1 CCAA) comes to Arcata riding a near-perfect record in conference play and boasting the No. 2 national ranking. The Warriors have been dominant on both ends of the pitch, scoring prolifically while allowing minimal goals. Humboldt will aim to remain compact defensively, pressure Stanislaus State in transition, and create scoring opportunities through Nathan Murff, Cooper Stephens, and the team's attacking midfielders.

TAKING CARE OF THE COYOTES

Cal State San Bernardino (6-2-3, 1-1-1 CCAA) visits College Creek Field on Sunday for Senior Day. The Coyotes have shown consistency in conference play and will challenge Humboldt to combine disciplined defending with sharp counterattacks. The Lumberjacks will look to build momentum from Friday's match and give a memorable performance for their lone senior, Paris Ruiz, in front of the home fans.

The Coyotes were able to find a win after four straight winless outcomes before their trip to Humboldt and the Lumberjacks will look to find a way to stifle their chances at starting a streak.
