ARCATA, Calif. – Cal Poly Humboldt women's soccer returns home this weekend to continue CCAA play, hosting Stanislaus State on Friday, Oct. 17 at 12:30 p.m. for the team's annual Pink Match before taking on Cal State San Bernardino on Sunday, Oct. 19 at 11:30 a.m. for Senior Day at College Creek Field.
The Lumberjacks (4-3-4, 2-0-2 CCAA) enter the homestand unbeaten in conference play and riding a five-match shutout streak, which ties the all-time program record, having yet to concede a goal through their first four CCAA contests.
All home matches offer free admission, courtesy of proud soccer partner The DANCO Group.
LAST TIME OUT
Humboldt extended its unbeaten run with a dominant defensive showing in a 0-0 draw at San Francisco State on Saturday. The Jacks outshot the Gators 16-1 and did not allow a single shot on goal, marking their fifth consecutive clean sheet.
The result followed a strong 2-0 victory over Cal State East Bay the previous Friday, where Karsyn Ross and Heidie Munoz found the back of the net and the defense stifled the Pioneers to secure the program's fourth straight shutout.
Goalkeepers Ari Beddoes and Carson Thomson-Terrel have combined for 21 saves across the last four matches, while the back line anchored by Kyla Okamoto, Karlie Yamada, Payton Heaney, and Camryn Patten continues to lead one of the top defenses in the CCAA.
PINK MATCH VS. THE WARRIORS
Friday's contest will see the Lumberjacks host Stanislaus State (5-2-4, 1-1-2 CCAA) in the annual Pink Match in support of those in the fight against cancer. The Warriors enter the weekend looking to add to the win column after two straight ties to San Bernardino and Pomona.
Humboldt will aim to continue its defensive dominance and re-discover its scoring touch, with Ross, Munoz, and Frida Duran Arellano leading a balanced attack that has pressured opposing defenses.
This marks the 28rd all-time meeting between Humboldt and Stanislaus State, with the Warriors holding the series edge. Stanislaus State put an end to the Jacks season in the Quarterfinal round of the CCAA Tournament last season, the Jacks will look to gain advantage this season and remain unbeaten in conference play.
Soccer alumni Megan Janikowski will be in attendance helping raise funds and awareness to support those in the fight against cancer. Please consider donating to help those affected by cancer and catch the Jacks sporting pink jerseys. You will be able to donate at the table during the game or by clicking here.
SENIOR DAY VS. THE COYOTES
On Sunday, the Lumberjacks will celebrate Senior Day as they welcome Cal State San Bernardino (4-4-3, 2-1-1 CCAA) to College Creek Field. The Coyotes enter the weekend winless in their last two outings, but have played several opponents close, including a 2-2 draw to Stanislaus State last weekend.
Humboldt will look to cap its homestand with another strong two-way performance, relying on midfield stability to generate scoring opportunities and maintain possession.
The eight seniors being celebrated before the match will include: Frida Duran Arellano, Annie Hoffman, Josie Wolitzky, Carson Thomson-Terrel, Alexis Blue, Morgan Young, Payton Heaney, and Camryn Patten.
