ARCATA, Calif. – The Cal Poly Humboldt Lumberjacks men's wrestling team will travel south this Sunday to Bakersfield, Calif., to compete in the Roadrunner Open, hosted by CSU Bakersfield. Action begins at 9 a.m. PT at Icardo Center and features eight teams from across the region, including Air Force, California Baptist, Embry-Riddle, Hope International, Oregon State, and Utah Valley.
LAST TIME OUT
Humboldt's squad enters its sixth competition of the early season following solid showings in prior duals and tournaments. Several wrestlers secured wins in tight matches, giving the program a 5-0 start and some confidence heading into Bakersfield. Most recently, the 'Jacks defeated nationally ranked No. 20 San Francisco State in Sacramento, knocking them off for the second-straight year in head-to-head duals. Darrell Nanpuya has also been a standout on the mat, as he earned MPSF Wrestler of the Week for the first time in his young career, announced on Wednesday by the conference.
ROADRUNNER OPEN
Sunday's Roadrunner Open will bring together eight competitive programs, offering Humboldt the chance to measure itself in a tournament setting and accumulate valuable dual‑tournament experience. The Jacks will focus on sharp takedowns, strong defense in the neutral position, and maintaining stamina across multiple matches in one day.
