ALLENDALE, Mich. – The Cal Poly Humboldt women's track and field team closed out the indoor season with strong performances at the Grand Valley State Big Meet on Saturday inside the Laker Turf Building.
Freshman Artana Nice led the Lumberjacks with a standout race in the women's mile, finishing third overall with a time of 4:59.10 for a personal best.
Sophomore Cocome McKamey had a busy day, earning a third-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.26, while also placing 25th in the 200 meters (26.51) and 22nd in the shot put (10.69m / 35' 1").
In the 200 meters, freshman Brielle Jimerson finished 18th overall with a time of 26.31, followed closely by McKamey in 25th (26.51).
Sophomore Chris Roberds competed in multiple events, finishing 45th in the 60 meters (8.30), 50th in the 200 meters (27.86), and 18th in the 60-meter hurdles (9.61).
The Lumberjacks had strong representation in the high jump, with freshman Lily Shadden clearing 1.53m (5' 0.25" - personal best) to finish eighth overall, while sophomore Katie MacLean finished 24th (1.43m / 4' 8.25").
In the throws, sophomore Marielle Winuk posted a personal best mark of 13.69m (44' 11") in the weight throw, finishing 26th overall.
With the indoor season wrapped up, the Lumberjacks now shift their focus to the outdoor season, beginning with the Green and Gold Open next Saturday, February 22, at Redwood Bowl in Arcata as part of Alumni Weekend.
