CHICO, Calif. – Behind a record-setting weekend from freshman sprinter Caitlyn Dougherty and a dominant throwing performance by Sophie Coil, the Cal Poly Humboldt women's track & field team turned in a strong showing at the Chico Invitational, held April 10-11 at Chico State.

Dougherty highlighted the meet with a pair of event victories in the sprints, winning both the 100 and 200 meters while setting personal records in each event. The freshman captured the 100-meter title with a time of 12.09 after running a wind-aided 12.05 in the preliminaries. Her mark ranks fourth all-time in program history and currently sits eighth in the CCAA this season.

She followed that performance with another victory in the 200 meters, crossing the line in 24.37. The time marks a new personal best, ranks third in program history, and currently stands fourth in the CCAA. Dougherty also contributed in the 400 meters, placing sixth with a time of 1:00.04.

In the field events, Coil delivered a standout performance, sweeping both the shot put and discus titles. The freshman opened with a winning mark of 12.00 meters (39' 4.5") in the shot put before posting a personal-best throw of 41.41 meters (135' 10") in the discus. Her discus mark moves her into ninth all-time in Cal Poly Humboldt program history.

Brielle Jimerson added a strong showing in the sprints, placing second in the 200 meters (24.79) and fifth in the 400 (59.44), while Mia Roberts finished fifth in the 100 (12.28).

In distance events, Anna Tasky secured a win in the 3000-meter steeplechase, finishing in 12:17.23.
