TURLOCK, Calif. – The Cal Poly Humboldt women's track and field team posted several standout performances, including three personal records, at the Kim Duyst Invite hosted by Stanislaus State this weekend.
Leading the way in the field events, Samantha Smith recorded a new personal best in the hammer throw, reaching a mark of 15.73m (51'7"). She also placed fourth in the discus throw with a distance of 36.35m (119'3"), earning five points for the Lumberjacks.
In the javelin, Grace Kasberger set a personal record with a throw of 30.18m (99'0"), placing tenth overall. Kasberger also excelled in the 100m hurdles, where she finished 10th with a time of 15.26 seconds.
On the track, Bianca Cortes notched a personal best in the 1500m, clocking 5:18.11.
Sprinter Mia Roberts had a strong showing in the 100m, finishing 17th with a time of 12.72, and later placed 15th in the 200m at 26.39. Joy Hano added a top-five finish for Humboldt in the 100m hurdles, securing fifth place with a time of 14.94 seconds while also competing in the long jump (4.89m/16'0.5").
In the high jump, Katie MacLean cleared 1.45m (4'9"), placing eighth, while Tully Leonard matched the same height to finish 11th.
Thrower Marielle Winuk impressed in the hammer throw, recording a 42.41m (139'2") mark, good for fifth place.
The Lumberjacks will continue their outdoor season at the Chico State Invitational next weekend (March 8).
