SEATTLE, Wash. – Cal Poly Humboldt made a commanding statement at the 2025 Falcon Regatta, showcasing their strength against top GNAC competition. The Lumberjacks delivered an impressive performance, with their Varsity 8+ and Varsity 4+ securing victories in the afternoon finals, setting the stage for a thrilling GNAC Championship showdown later this season.
In the Varsity 8+ A Final, Cal Poly Humboldt surged past defending national champion Western Washington, clocking in at 7:01.7, three and a half seconds ahead of their closest rival. The Lumberjacks also posted a faster time than Seattle Pacific's winning V8+ time in the B Final (7:14.2) and Central Oklahoma (7:19.7), further solidifying their strength against top-tier conference opponents.
The Varsity 4+ A Final saw another triumph for Humboldt, as the crew crossed the finish line with a time of 7:48.7—over 20 seconds ahead of Western Washington (08:09.4). Humboldt's V4+ time also outpaced Central Oklahoma's B Final-winning time of 8:01.9 and Seattle Pacific's 8:15.9, reinforcing their dominance in the event.
The Lumberjacks also notched a win in the afternoon wave of the 3rd Varsity 4+ event, finishing in 8:30.2, 12 seconds ahead of Seattle Pacific. Additionally, their 2nd Varsity 4+ placed third in a competitive afternoon race. The morning wave saw both the 2V4 and 3V4 get second place.
The Falcon Regatta served as an early preview of the GNAC Championships, with Cal Poly Humboldt asserting itself as a top contender alongside Western Washington, Seattle Pacific, and Central Oklahoma. With this standout performance, the Lumberjacks are poised to make waves as the season progresses.
