ARCATA, Calif. – Cal Poly Humboldt earned six event victories at the 2025 Cal Poly Humboldt Invitational, setting nine personal bests, and securing six top-10 marks in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA). The Lumberjacks placed second overall in the meet, demonstrating their strength across multiple disciplines. Prior to the meet, Humboldt honored three seniors of the program: Joy Hano, Grace Kasberger, and Chris Roberds.
Leading the way was Artana Nice, who dominated the 800 meters with a winning time of 2:14.01, followed closely by teammate Mikenna Conan, who finished runner-up in 2:15.44. In the 1500 meters, Brinna Weiseth crossed the line first in 4:55.40, with Alexa Amador taking second in 5:00.28.
The distance squad continued its stellar performance in the 5000 meters, where Charlotte Leonard edged out Weiseth in a thrilling finish, winning in 19:19.28, with Weiseth just behind in 19:19.72. Freshman Izzi Peila completed the podium sweep with a time of 19:22.30.
Joy Hano delivered a standout performance in the 100-meter hurdles, clocking 14.71 to secure first place and a top-10 CCAA mark. The 4x100-meter relay team of Hano, Chris Roberds, Cadence Peery, and Mia Roberts claimed gold in 48.02, while the 4x400-meter relay squad of Brielle Jimerson, Ginny Brooks, Hano, and Grace Kasberger took first with a time of 3:59.17.
In the field events, Hano secured a second-place finish in the long jump with a mark of 5.40m (17' 8.75"), while Samantha Smith earned second in the discus with a throw of 39.07m (128' 2"). Marielle Winuk placed third in the hammer throw with a mark of 43.08m (141' 4"), rounding out a strong showing in the throws.
Additionally, six Lumberjacks earned top-10 CCAA marks:
- Joy Hano – #3 in the 100 hurdles (14.71)
- 4x100 relay team (Hano, Roberds, Peery, Roberts) – #3 (48.02)
- Artana Nice – #5 in the 800m (2:14.01)
- 4x400 relay team (Jimerson, Brooks, Hano, Kasberger) – #6 (3:59.17)
- Samantha Smith – #7 in the discus (39.07m)
- Mikenna Conan – #9 in the 800m (2:15.44)
The 4x100 relay team's time of 48.02 now ranks fourth all-time in program history, while Artana Nice's 2:14.01 in the 800m moves her to eighth all-time in the Humboldt record books.

Next up, Cal Poly Humboldt will travel to the Bay Area this week for the SFSU Fanelli Classic that begins on Thursday, the Brutus Hamilton Multi that begins on Thursday, and the Brutus Hamilton Invitational that is on Saturday.
