SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – The Cal Poly Humboldt women's track & field team turned in a strong showing at the Mike Fanelli Track Classic, held April 3–5 at San Francisco State, with three new personal records and standout performances, led by freshman Artana Nice in the 1500m.
Nice delivered one of the meet's premier highlights for the Lumberjacks with a personal-best time of 4:32.48 in the 1500 meters, earning her the distinction of top NCAA Division II finisher in the event. Her time not only set a new collegiate best, but also propelled her to third overall in the CCAA rankings this season.
Nice also competed in the 800 meters, finishing in 2:15.41—another solid performance that continues to show her range across both middle-distance events.
Joining the list of new personal records were Brinna Weiseth and Alexa Amador in the 5000 meters. Weiseth crossed the line in 18:12.07, while Amador followed with a career-best 18:39.98. Freshman Izzi Peila also competed in the same event, clocking 20:26.36.
In the field, Lily Shadden cleared 1.52m (4'11.75") in the high jump to place fifth overall, tying her season best. Teammates Katie MacLean and Tully Leonard followed with clearances of 1.47m and 1.42m, respectively, to place eighth and 13th in a competitive field.
Up next, the Jacks will head to Chico to compete in the Chico Twilight and Distance Carnival on Friday, April 11 and Saturday, April 12.
