Cal Poly Humboldt Wins GNAC Championships for First Time in Program History

The 'Jacks celebrate their first GNAC Championship in program history

GOLD RIVER, Calif. — For the first time in program history, Cal Poly Humboldt Women's Rowing hoisted the Great Northwest Athletic Conference team trophy, edging 2024 National Champion Western Washington by a single point Saturday morning on Lake Natoma.

The No. 2‑ranked Lumberjacks amassed 27 team points, fueled by a dominant victory in the Varsity 4+ and a runner‑up finish in the Varsity 8+. Western Washington (26 pts) settled for second, while Central Oklahoma (19) and Seattle Pacific (18) rounded out the standings.

Varsity 4+ Delivers the Decisive Punch

The Lumberjacks' Varsity 4+ crew surged to the line in 7:49.842, nearly nine seconds clear of Central Oklahoma. The V4+ remains undefeated this season against Division II opponents. The winning lineup:

Their 12‑point haul proved pivotal, offsetting Western Washington's victory in the Varsity 8+.


Varsity 8+ Fights to Second

Facing the nation's No. 1 boat, Humboldt's eight posted 7:10.441, just five seconds off the Vikings' pace to grab 15 crucial points and keep the championship within reach.
