Kasberger Sits Second in Heptathlon After Day One; Nice Advances to 1500m Final

TURLOCK, Calif. – The Cal Poly Humboldt women's track & field team opened competition at the 2025 CCAA Track & Field Championships with a strong showing on Thursday, highlighted by a top-two standing in the heptathlon and a finals qualification in the 1500m.

Gracie Kasberger turned in an impressive first day of the heptathlon, compiling 2,835 points through four events to sit in second place heading into Friday's final stretch. Kasberger won the shot put with a throw of 11.84 meters, placed second in the high jump by clearing 1.57 meters, took third in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.08 seconds, and clocked 27.73 seconds in the 200 meters for eighth place. She'll close out the heptathlon on Friday with the long jump, javelin, and 800 meters.

Also making noise for the Lumberjacks was Artana Nice, who locked in a spot in Saturday's 1500-meter final by finishing top-three in her preliminary heat. Nice crossed the line in 4:45.45 to automatically qualify for the championship race.

The CCAA Track & Field Championships continue Friday at Al Brenda Track at Warrior Stadium.
