Men’s Soccer Takes on Hawai’i Pacific to Round Out Hawai’i Road Trip

HONOLULU, Hawaii – Cal Poly Humboldt men's soccer continues its Hawai'i road trip on Saturday, Sept. 13, facing Hawai'i Pacific at 10 p.m. PT at the Waipio Peninsula Soccer Stadium. The Lumberjacks are coming off a strong performance in their first match on the islands and look to string together another victory before returning to the contiguous states.

LAST TIME OUT

The Lumberjacks (1-1-1) picked up their first victory of the 2025 season with a 2-0 shutout win over Chaminade on Thursday afternoon. Robert Somerville broke through for the 'Jacks in the 26th minute, finishing off a pass from Maumausolo Uiagalelei to give Humboldt a 1-0 lead. Goalkeeper Edwin Monterrosa anchored the defense with three saves while the back line of Cal Poly Humboldt held firm under pressure as Chaminade pushed late.

Seth Uson sealed the win with a penalty kick goal in the 83rd minute, giving Humboldt a two-goal cushion as they cruised into their first victory of the season. The Lumberjacks recorded nine shots in total, with five on target, while holding the Silverswords scoreless.

SWIMMING WITH THE SHARKS

Humboldt now turns its attention to Hawai'i Pacific (1-0-1) who has yet to experience a loss early in the season. This will be the eighth matchup between the Lumberjacks and Sharks, with Humboldt holding the upper edge at 4-2-1. In their most recent matchup, the 'Jacks came out on top late with two second-half goals despite their defense undergoing immense pressure from an aggressive offensive attack from the Sharks. The 'Jacks will aim to replicate that success from Thursday on both sides of the ball early in the match to set the tone.

Saturday's game marks the second of Humboldt's six-game stretch away from home before they return to Arcata to open their CCAA schedule in front of the College Creek Field crowd.
