Lumberjacks Looking Forward to Making Noise at CCAA Championships

SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal Poly Humboldt women's track & field team will travel to San Marcos, Calif. this week to compete in the 2026 CCAA Championships, hosted by Cal State San Marcos starting Thursday, Apr. 30 and ending Saturday, May 2. The three-day championship meet will feature the top athletes from across the conference as the Lumberjacks look to build on a strong regular season filled with event victories, NCAA Division II qualifying marks, school records, and personal best performances.

Competition will begin Thursday with the combined events before continuing Friday and Saturday with preliminaries and finals across all events. Conference titles, all-conference honors, and NCAA postseason qualifying opportunities will all be on the line throughout the weekend.

LAST TIME OUT

The Lumberjacks are coming off a strong showing at both the Bryan Clay Invitational and Raider Invitational, where Humboldt athletes combined for school records, NCAA Division II qualifying marks, event victories, and multiple personal best performances heading into the CCAA Championships.

Isabel Perez-Zoghbi continued her historic season at the Bryan Clay Invitational with a pair of NCAA Division II qualifying marks. The junior ran 2:05.07 in the invitational 800m, finishing third among Division II competitors, before setting a new school record in the 1500m with a time of 4:23.45.

Freshman Caitlyn Dougherty delivered another breakout performance in the sprints, clocking a lifetime-best 12.03 in the 100m to move to third all-time in program history. Brielle Jimerson also climbed Humboldt's all-time list after running a personal-best 56.68 in the 400m, moving to third all-time, while Mia Roberts improved to sixth all-time in the 200m with a personal-best 25.26. Humboldt's 4x100 relay team of Kelsi Lytle, Dougherty, Jimerson, and Roberts added a strong performance with a 47.03 finish against elite competition.

At the Raider Invitational, Humboldt's women showcased depth across multiple event groups. The Lumberjacks swept the top three spots in the 3000m steeplechase as Katelyn Touchet won in 11:53.86, followed by Anna Tasky (11:59.84) and Lex Craven (12:32.89). Brinna Weiseth placed second in the 5000m with an 18:25.54, while freshman Maddie McKenna recorded a personal-best 18:29.26.

In the field events, Sophie Coil captured the discus title with a throw of 40.40m and added a runner-up finish in the shot put at 11.64m. Katarina Muellerleile won the pole vault by clearing 3.38m, while Lily Shadden posted one of Humboldt's top marks of the season with a personal-best 1.65m to win the high jump and move to No. 1 in the CCAA rankings. Marielle Winuk also claimed a victory in the hammer throw with a mark of 43.82m.

CCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS

The Lumberjacks enter the conference championships with momentum across nearly every event group and will look to contend for scoring positions throughout the weekend.

Humboldt will rely heavily on its sprint and middle-distance groups led by Dougherty, Jimerson, and Perez-Zoghbi, while Coil and Marielle Winuk headline a strong throws unit capable of scoring major points. The Lumberjacks will also look for key performances in the jumps and distance events as they aim to climb the team standings.
