ARCATA – After recording another undefeated homestand, the Humboldt State men's soccer team will busy this week as the California Collegiate Athletic Association season continues. First, the Jacks will travel to Rohnert Park to face No. 10 nationally ranked Sonoma State at 3 p.m. Wednesday. The Jacks return home to face Cal State Los Angeles at 7 p.m. Friday in Redwood Bowl. The final game of the week will be a non-conference affair, as the Jacks host UC Santa Cruz at noon Sunday.
Head-to-Head: The Jacks are 17-24-2 all-time against Sonoma State, the last result a 5-0 Seawolves' win coming on the final day of the 2007 season. ...The Jacks have a 1-2-0 all-time record against Cal State Los Angeles, including the Golden Eagles' 3-2 win last season. ...The Jacks are undefeated against UC Santa Cruz in four games. The two teams last met in 1994, a 3-2 HSU victory.
Cumbo's Comments: “We have done very well so far this year with a very young starting lineup,” Humboldt State head men's soccer coach Andy Cumbo said. “(Sonoma State and Cal State L.A.) are two of the best teams on the west coast and it will be a test for our defense and it will give us the chance to see how much progress we have made.”

Josh Suggs, a sophomore from Las Cruces, N.M., scored his first two goals of the season this weekend, including the game-winner Sunday against San Francisco State. Suggs ranks third in the CCAA in shots (28) and third in shots per game (4.00). ...Midfielder
Tony Ramirez, a junior from Carmichael, missed the last two games due to injury, but is expected to be healthy and ready to play against Sonoma State, according to Cumbo. ...Midfielder
E.J. Schneekluth, a freshman from Poway, scored his first collegiate goal against Cal State Monterey Bay and will continue to see a significant amount of playing time, according to Cumbo. ...In goal,
Drew Ryan continues to be impressive this season for the Jacks. The senior captain from Carmichael has recorded a .81 goals against average, good for seventh in the CCAA, a .846 save percentage, good for fifth in the CCAA, and is tied for the CCAA lead with 33 saves. Ryan also recorded his first career assist Friday against Cal State Monterey Bay.
Opponent's Notes: Defending West Region champion Sonoma State entered last week's action ranked No. 10 in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America/adidas poll. Hummel, who has started one more game this season, has recorded a .94 goals against average. David has not allowed a goal in three games played this season while recording 13 saves. ...UC Santa Cruz enters the week 3-3-2 overall. Forward Matt Fondy has scored seven of his team's 12 goals. ....Midfielder Davin Kono leads UCSC in assists with four.
