TURLOCK – Looking to snap a six-game winless streak, the Humboldt State women's soccer team traveled to Cal State Stanislaus on Friday, but gave up two first half goals and fell to the Warriors 2-0.  The loss leaves the Jacks' record at 7-8-2 overall and 4-7-2 in California Collegiate Athletic Association play.  CSUS is now 8-8-1, 4-8-1 in conference action.

The two teams had barely broken a sweat before the Cal State Stanislaus got on the board.  At the 1:46 mark, Alena Smajlagic scored an unassisted goal, on the match's first shot, to give the Warriors a 1-0 lead.

The Jacks had three consecutive corner kick and two shots on goal from the 10th to the 12th minute, but couldn't get anything by Warriors' keeper Jessica Sitarz.

In the 24th minute, Lisa Garcia, CSUS's leading scorer, netted her 10th goal of the season.  Smajlagic and Bernadette Bettencourt assisted on the goal, which Garcia placed in the bottom right corner of the net to extend the lead to 2-0.

The Jacks out shot the Warriors 11-5, including 7-1 in the second half, and took nine corner kicks to Cal State Stanislaus' one, but couldn't find the back of the net.

Sarah Nakamoto and Carly Colpin led the HSU attack with two shots each.  Kelly Sandberg made two saves and allowed two goals in the loss.

The Jacks return to action on Sunday in Chico as they face off against Chico State.
