Jacks shutout at CSULA

LOS ANGELES – Out shot 11-to-3 for the match and allowing two first half goals, the Humboldt State women's soccer team was shutout 2-0 by the Golden Eagles of Cal State Los Angeles on Sunday afternoon.

The win improves the Golden Eagles' record to 10-3-0 overall, 9-3-0 in California Collegiate Athletic Association play.  HSU falls to 3-11-0, 3-9-0 in CCAA action. It was the 10th time this season that the Jacks have failed to find the back of the net and have been shutout.

CSULA's Alex Conley scored at the 10:38 mark to give the Golden Eagles a 1-0 lead.  Liz Franco and Ann Marie Tangorra were credited with assists. 

In the 39th minute Caroline Hanna scored off the rebound from a header by Lisa Ohberg.  Ohberg and Franco got the assists on the score.

The Jacks were outshot 6-to-0 in the first 45 minutes and went to the half, down 2-0.

In the second half HSU showed some life on shots by Chelsea LaRue, Kylie Riebe and Kim Carroll.  But the Lumberjacks couldn't get anything past CSULA keeper Gabriella Batmani, who had to make only one save in earning the win.

The Jacks' Jennie Paugh made six saves in the loss.  Her record is 3-8-0.
