Johnson's Comments
“I feel good about yesterday (a 2-1 win over Cal State Monterey Bay). It was nice to finally score goals that weren't off set pieces or penalty kicks. We have that monkey off our back. I thought we played a well-organized game for probably 75 to 80 minutes. We had the better run of play. We allowed them to work their way back into the game, which concerns me. The goal we gave up was somewhat soft, but we talked about what went wrong on that play and can easily clean it up. I thought (Cal State Monterey Bay) was a team that we needed to beat. With the talent we have, we should beat them. We didn't play down to there level and came away with the win.” … “When we played (Cal State Stanislaus and Chico State) on the road, the games were essentially 1-0 results. There were a number of factors that played into the way those games came out. It was very hot down there and perhaps they were taking us lightly, due to our record. The combination of our win on Sunday and that we played right with those two (Cal State Stanislaus and Chico State) in their places gives us reason to be confident going into these matches.” … “Quintin (Aguilar) really brings a new dynamic for us up front. He has tremendous speed and has been improving every game. Getting his first collegiate goal will probably take a bit of pressure off him. He and (Josh) Suggs have been getting to know each other on the field and what to expect from the other. As they become more and more comfortable together I think they will open up our offensive attack.”
