Josh Suggs got behind the defense and from 10 yards out on the left side shot the ball to the far post. It got past the keeper but was just wide.
At the 66:26 mark Suggs, streaking down the right side with the ball, served it to the front of the net.
Brian Holmes played it through the box to Scott Mariani whose shot at the open net was just wide to the left.
Then with little more than eight minutes to play in regulation, the Warriors' Manny Avila go the loose with the ball right on the doorstep of the goal and shot it only to see Verle make a diving save to preserve the tie.
Between the two overtime periods HSU outshot the Warriors 7-to-3, but neither side had very good scoring chances and the result was a 0-0.
Cal State Stanislaus outshot the Jacks 25-to-18 on the night. Verle made nine saves while Javier Rosales, CSUS's keeper, had two.
“As a staff we are happy with the result,” head coach Christian Johnson said. “I don't think we played out best game offensively, but defensively we were much more organized than we have been lately. We gave up no soft goals.
“They outshot us, but a lot of those shots were from long range and we have a keeper who can make those saves as well as the tough ones as well.”
The Jacks wrap up their four-game home stand on Sunday against Chico State. The match is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. in Redwood Bowl.
