HSU downed 1-0 at Chico

CHICO – A goal at the 71:29 mark was the difference as the Chico State Wildcats defeated the Humboldt State women's soccer team 1-0 on Friday night in Chico.

With the win Chico State improves to 4-3-0 overall, 3-2-0 in California Collegiate Athletics Association play.  The Jacks are now 1-6-0, 1-4-0 in conference action.

Neither team could get much offense going in the first half.  The Jacks took just two shots in the first 45 minutes. Carly Kolpin took one in the 24th minute and Arielle Kern got one off in the 36th minute, which Wildcats keeper Sydney Oliver stopped.  Chico State took just one shot, a header on-goal by Ashley Perlman.

The 72nd minute Lisa Webster blasted a shot into the upper far corner that beat Jacks' keeper Jennie Paugh from 15 yards out.

For the match HSU took six shots.  Junior Megan Kendall led the attack with two.  Chico had seven shots, three on frame, led by Denni Jo Berger's two.

On Sunday the Jacks wrap up their two-game road trip.  Humboldt State has an 11:30 a.m. kickoff in Turlock against the Warriors of Cal State Stanislaus.  Fans can follow all the action through live stats on the CSUS athletics web site.
