SEATTLE, Wash. – For the second consecutive year the Humboldt State women's soccer team opened its season on the road against the Seattle Pacific Falcons at Interbay Stadium.  The result in 2010 was the same as 2009, a 3-0 win by the home team.

SPU (1-0-0) has not lost in Interbay Stadium for nearly four years.  Their 41-0-3 record in the facility dates back to September 30, 2007 when they last lost there, 1-0 to Seattle University.

The No. 17-ranked Falcons got on the board at the 11:01 mark off the foot of junior forward Brandi Hamre.  Her shot found the left corner of the net from 19 yards out.  It was the first of two tallies for her on the night.

In the 66th minute Hamre blasted a shot from 28 yards that again found the left side of the net.  Between those two goals SPU's Kendall Thoreson hit the back of the net on a shot lofted over Jacks keeper Kelly Sandberg's head from 30 yards away.

Seattle Pacific outshot HSU 13-to-6 on the night and put nine shots on frame to the Lumberjacks' one.

Sandberg made six saves in the loss.  Senior Kim Carroll and freshman Talya Crosby each took two shots to lead the side.  Sophomore Carly Kolpin had the Jacks lone shot-on-goal.

HSU (0-1-0) looks to break into the win column in their next match, Monday, September 6, when they face Western Washington in Bellingham.  Kickoff is scheduled for 12 p.m.
