Cal State Dominguez Hills runs past HSU women’s soccer

Elle Reid
Box Score ARCATA - The Humboldt State women's soccer team came into Friday's afternoon match with hopes of notching their first home win of the year—to no avail.

Cal State Dominguez Hills netted its first goal 13 minutes into the match and added six more unanswered scores en route to a 7-0 California Collegiate Athletic Association victory.

The visiting Toros stymied the Lumberjacks' attack, while having their way offensively—outshooting the Lumberjacks 33-6. Freshman Ariel Diehl pelted the Cal State Dominguez Hills' goal with four of the six HSU shots.

Following two encouraging ties last weekend, HSU sees its record fall to 3-4-2 overall and 1-4-2 in the conference.

Cal State Dominguez Hills (4-4-1/3-3-1 CCAA) found the net three times in the opening half, before adding four more in the second 45 minutes.  The away club saw seven different players score with only Gabrielle Pena's two assists as the lone multi-point producer.

HSU starting netminder Kelly Lukas recorded 12 saves, while Amber Woolcock came on to have five of her own in the final 20:55 of the match.

The Jacks have one day to recover, before they return to College Creek Field. HSU will look to rebound against Cal State Los Angeles on Sunday at 11:30 a.m.
