ARCATA, Calif. – The Humboldt State men's soccer team is hungry for points this weekend. After the unexpected 1-7-0, 0-4-0 start to the year, the Lumberjacks feel their time has come to reverse the trend.
"I think the frustration is mounting and getting to the point where our guys just aren't going to take it anymore," said Head Coach
Fred Jungemann. "We will come out determined for a result."
The Jacks aim to change the course of their season with a weekend trip to Cal State Monterey Bay (5-2-0, 2-1-0) and San Francisco State (5-3-0, 1-2-0).
"I don't think there is any adversity that anyone can throw in front of us at, at this point, that we haven't dealt with and experienced," said Jungemann. "I don't anticipate being on the road as a benefit or detriment, we just need to find a way to get it done."
Through the early stretch of the California Collegiate Athletic Association season, Monterey Bay (2.00), Humboldt State (1.97), and San Francisco State (1.67) rank as three of the bottom four teams in goals against average in CCAA matches. These numbers suggest a weekend primed for goal scoring; which the Jacks know can spark the turnaround.
The Jacks visit the Otters first, and play at 3 p.m. on Friday afternoon before traveling to SF State to face the Gators on Sunday at 2 p.m.
