Lumberjacks Return To College Creek To Host Cal State East Bay & Cal State Monterey Bay

Arcata, Calif---  Humboldt State's women's soccer return will return home to College Creek Field this weekend for a pair of CCAA matches against Cal State East Bay and Cal State Monterey Bay.  The Lumberjacks will host Cal State East Bay this Friday, October 18 at 12:30pm.  This Sunday, October 20, HSU will face Cal State Monterey Bay at 11:30am.  This will begin a stretch of matches that the Lumberjacks will be home for five of the next seven games.
 
RECAP OF HSU'S LAST TWO GAMES:  Humboldt State went 1-1 on its trip to Southern California this past weekend.  The Lumberjacks started their weekend with a 5-2 loss this past Friday evening at No 2 UC San Diego.  The combination of Kelsey Bess and Selena Osorio combined for both of HSU's goals.  Osorio connected on a ball from Bess in the 16th minute and then in the 82nd minute, Bess connected on a ball from Osorio.  Katelin Talbert recorded three saves in goal for the Lumberjacks.  HSU snapped its four-match losing streak on Sunday with a 2-1 win at Cal State San Marcos.  Lindsay Stoner connected on a penalty kick for the Lumberjacks' first goal with less than 50 seconds left in the first half.  Erin Siegel connected on a pass from Sabine Postma for what proved to be the game-winning goal in the 73rd minute.  Talbert had seven saves in goal for the Lumberjacks.
 
UPDATE ON THE LUMBERJACKS:  Heading into this weekend's two matches, Humboldt State is 2-6-2 overall and 1-4 in the CCAA.  Lindsay Stoner leads the team with her four goals for a team leading eight points.  Sabine Postma is right behind with her with one goal, four assists and six points followed by Kelsey Bess' two goals, one assist and five points.  Erin Siegel has two goals this season for points.  Stoner and Siegel each have HSU's game-winning goals.  Katelin Talbert has seen action in goal in all 10 matches. Talbert has a 1.72 goals against average with 54 saves for a .750 saves percentage.  She also has a shutout.

POINEERS IN REVIEW:  Cal State East Bay heads into its match this Friday with the Lumberjacks with a 2-6-2 overall record and a 1-4 CCAA record.  The Pioneers were off last weekend, but went 1-1 in their last two matches.  They defeated Cal State Monterey Bay 1-0 on October 2, but lost 3-1 on October 4 to Sonoma State.  Lauren McDougal has scored a team leading four goals with her team leading eight points. Jordan Smith has posted a 0.93 goals against average with 51 saves in nine matches.  Cal State East Bay leads the all-time series with the Lumberjacks 8-2-2.  Last season, the two teams played to a 1-1 double overtime tie in Arcata on Oct. 27 as Pikake Hix scored the Lumberjacks' goal.  The last HSU win over the Pioneers was on October 23, 2015, when the 'Jacks won 1-0 in Arcata.
 
OTTERS IN REVIEW:  Cal State Monterey Bay enters its match this Friday at SF State with a 6-3-1 overall record and a 1-3 CCAA record.  The Otters went 0-2 in their last two matches two weeks ago as they lost both matches 1-0 to Cal State East Bay and Sonoma State.  Lia Kilgore leads the way with her three goals (one assist) and team leading seven points.  Sierra Levy is right behind her with two goals and two assists for six points.  Alyssa Noh has a 0.53 goals against average, 39 saves and two shutouts in seven matches.  Alyson Schade has posted a 0.99 goals against average with 20 saves in four matches.  HSU leads the all-time series 10-73.  The Lumberjacks defeated CSUMB 2-0 in Arcata on Oct. 25, 2018 in Arcata as Sabine Postma scored a goal and assisted on the other. 
 
UP NEXT:  After Sunday's match with Cal State Monterey Bay, HSU will have its final two road matches.  The Lumberjacks will travel to Pomona for a 12:30pm match on October 25 with Cal Poly Pomona.  They will be in San Bernardino on October 27 for a 11:30am match with Cal State San Bernardino.  HSU will return home on November 2 to begin a season ending three-match home stand with SF State.
