Women’s Soccer To Host William Jessup This Saturday

ARCATA, Calif.---  Humboldt State's women's soccer team will host the William Jessup this Saturday, September 21 at 3pm at College Creek Field. The Lumberjacks are coming off a season beginning four-game road trip including going 0-1-1 in Portland, Ore., this past weekend.

RECAP OF LAST WEEKEND:  Humboldt State started the weekend with a 3-1 loss at the hands of Concordia-Portland under the lights this past Thursday in Portland.  The Cavaliers took a 1-0 lead after Kyra Radcliffe connected on a through ball from Isabelle Morales in the fourth minute of the match.  Humboldt State tied the match at 1-1 in the 33rd minute when Mary Swisher connected on a header off a pass from Sabine Postma.  Concordia scored two unanswered goals in the second half to secure the 3-1 victory.  Katelin Talbert had six saves in goal for the Lumberjacks.

On Saturday afternoon in Portland, HSU played in its second double overtime match in its first four matches.  The 'Jacks played to a scoreless tie with Saint Martin's despite outshooting the Saints 16-7 including 7-2 in shot on goal attempts.  Talbert had two saves in goal for the 'Jacks who now 0-2-2.

UPDATE ON THE LUMBERJACKS:  After its first four matches, HSU is averaging 0.50 goals a game while giving up 1.50 goals a game.  Scoring the two goals for HSU are Erin Siegel and Mary SwisherSabine Postma has both of the Lumberjacks' two assists. The 'Jacks have outshot their opponents 63-56 including 30-25 in shot on goal attempts.   Katelin Talbert has posted a 1.35 goals against average in goal for the 'Jacks while posting 18 saves and a .750 saves percentage along with a shutout.

WARRIORS IN REVIEW:  William Jessup heads into its match with Academy of Art this Wednesday afternoon with a 2-3 record.  They defeated Cal Maritime 16-0 and Simpson 2-1 while the Warriors lost 2-0 to Antelope Valley, 1-0 to UC Merced and 5-0 to Oregon Tech. 

Madison Leonhardt and Alhan Bakodeh each leads the team with their three goals apiece while Elena Marino has a team leading four assists.  Camille Cavey has posted a 2.00 goals against average with 28 saves and a .757 saves percentage in five matches.  Rachel Huber-Cooper has seen time in one match and played 45 minutes while allowing no goals.

CCAA AROUND THE CORNER:  The Lumberjacks will begin their CCAA season next week.  They will host San Francisco State on September 25 at 12:30pm at College Creek Field.  HSU will travel to Rohnert Park, Calif., for a 4pm starting match at Sonoma State on Friday, September 27.
