Senior Day and Dam Worth It Matches This Week For The Lumberjacks

HSU Will Recognize Its Seniors From the Classes of 2020 and 2021 on Sunday
ARCATA, Calif---  Humboldt State men's soccer team will host their final two home matches of the regular season this weekend. HSU will entertain Sonoma State this Friday, October 22 at 3pm and San Francisco State this Sunday, October 24 at 2pm.  Friday's match with the Seawolves will be HSU's Dam Worth It as the 'Jacks will bring awareness to mental health.  Sunday's match with SF State will be Senior Day as the 'Jacks will recognize their seniors from the Class of 2020 and 2021 prior to the start of the match.

COACHING STAFF:  Coach Fred Jungemann is in his ninth year on the sideline for the Lumberjacks.  This year, Coach Jungemann's assistants are three former Lumberjacks in Frankie Calderon, Phil Rouse and Isaiah Dairo who will begin their first year on the Lumberjack coaching staff. 
 
LAST WEEK'S GAMES;  The Lumberjacks went 2-0 last week to improve to 8-2-2 overall and 2-2-2 in the CCAA.  The 'Jacks started their week with a 2-1 come-from-behind win at Stanislaus State.  Humboldt State was trailing 1-0 midway through the second half when Yushi Kato scored the tying-goal.  Four minutes later, Ramiro Rosas scored the game-winner.  Adrian Gallardo had five saves in goal for Humboldt State including two huge saves in the final minutes.  Sunday, HSU continued its winning ways as the 'Jacks defeated Cal State East Bay 6-1.  Marco Silveira scored a goal and had three assists while Daniel Adeyeye, Ramiro Rosas, Devin Hauenstein and Edgar Castaneda also scored for the 'Jacks while Gallardo had four saves in goal for HSU.
 
SENIOR DAY:  Prior to the match on Sunday, the Lumberjacks will recognize their seniors from the Class of 2020 and 2021.  For the Class of 2020, HSU will recognize Jacob Aguilera, Martin Calderon Chico Cortes Garcia, Tyler Guptill, Tab Heinz and Ethan Waters and for the Class of 2021, Yushi Kato and Marco Silveira.
 
LEADERSMarco Silveira leads the 'Jacks with his team high six goals, ten assists and 22 points.  He also has a team leading four game-winning goals. Daniel Adeyeye is next with his two goals and three assists along with Alex Lopez with three goals and an assist.  Nico Herrera Land has a goal and four assists while Yushi Kato has scored three goals.  Adrian Gallardo has posted a 0.61 goals against average with 46 saves, six shutouts and a .868 saves percentage.
 
CCAA: Two 'Jacks are in the top five in the CCAA in nine statistical categories.  Adrian Gallardo is second in goals against average, saves percentage, shutouts, saves per game and shutouts per game. Marco Silveira is first in assists and game-winning goals while he is tied for second in points and tied for fifth in goals.
 
MOVING CLOSERMarco Silveira is second on HSU's all-time career assists list with 24.  Kevin Wiese holds the career record with 30.  He is also two goals from moving into tenth place on the career goals list.  Silveira has scored 14 goals during his career in the Green and Gold.  He is fourth on the single season assists list with ten  The senior forward is two from moving into third and four from first.  Adrian Gallardo's six shutouts is tied for second on the Lumberjacks' single season shutouts.  Scott Power recorded eight in 1989 to hold the single season record at HSU.
 
PLAYOFF HUNT:  Humboldt State is in sixth place in the CCAA regular season standings.  The top six teams at the end of the regular season on November 4 will receive a bid to the CCAA Soccer Championships.  The first round will have the No. 3 hosting No 6 team and No. 4 hosting No. 5 team on November 7. The semi-finals and final matches will take place November 12-14 on the campus of Cal State Los Angeles.  The top six teams are as of today are 1. Cal State Dominguez Hills, 2.  Cal State Los Angeles, 3. Cal Poly Pomona, 4.  Cal State San Bernardino, 5. Chico State and 6. Humboldt State and Cal State Monterey Bay.  Four  points behind the 'Jacks and Otters is Sonoma State and Cal State San Marcos with three weeks left in the regular season. 
 
SONOMA STATE: The Seawolves are 5-7-1 overall and 1-4-1 in the CCAA.  Sean Rohane leads the way for SSU with his five goals, seven assists and 17 points while Brian Field has a team high two game-winning goals to go with his six goals.  Reinier Ter Riet has posted a 1.23 goals against average with a .611 saves percentage in goal for the Seawolves. 

Sonoma State leads the all-time series with the 'Jacks 13-3-4 including winning 4-2 in Rohnert Park in 2019.  Current assistant Isaiah Dairo scored the first of HSU's two goals.  HSU's last win over the Seawolves was in 2018 in Arcata, a 4-2 win as Marco Silveira and Devin Hauenstein each scored for the 'Jacks.
 
SF STATE: The Gators are 4-6-3 overall and 0-3-3 in the CCAA.  They are led by Gustavo Ferrari's 11 goals and six assists. He also has a game-winning goal.  Matias Herrera Fuentas has posted a 1.57 goals against average in goal with a .750 saves percentage and 54 saves.

Humboldt State leads the all-time series with the Gators 8-7-4 with the 'Jacks winning 3-1 in 2019 in Arcata.  Isaiah Dairo and Marco Silveira each scored a goal for HSU.

UP NEXT: Humboldt State will finish off its regular season with a three-match road trip. The 'Jacks will be at Cal Poly Pomona (Oct. 29), Cal State Los Angeles (Oct. 31) and Chico State (Nov. 4) to end their regular season.
